MLS to Take Summer Break During World Cup ’26

In a recent conversation with Brad Pursel, MLS senior VP of game schedule management, we discussed the 2026 schedule in relation to the World Cup.

He explained MLS will take a summer break given the magnitude & length of the tournament, though the duration of the pause is TBD.

This is absolutely the point where MLS should fix its scheduling mess and get in line with the rest of the world.

There is plenty of time between now and the World Cup to alter schedules over the next couple of years to make this alignment.
